Overview

Oregon State University has released a smartphone app designed to help farmers and beekeepers protect bees from pesticides while in the field. Growers might also find this app useful if they search for products by the chemical name (the active ingredient).

The app contains information on the toxicity level of various products—such as insecticides, fungicides, and miticides—to bees. To indicate toxicity level to bees, the app uses three classes of ratings ranging from high to none, based on the cautions and restrictions required by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The information in the app can also be found in the publication called How to Reduce Bee Poisoning From Pesticides. Use the link below to access either the app or the publication.
